Is there a VBA fileformat for saving an Excel file explicitly as ver 2007? I have a legacy program that can read an Excel 2007 xlsx file, but not 2016.
Hmmm... we use a program (now pretty old) - Datawatch Monarch v10.5. It's capable of reading Excel files through v2007.
Our ERP creates Excel XML files, so in my macro I open them and then save them as true .XLSX files. If I save that file with Excel 2007, Monarch can read them. If I save them with Excel 2016, Monarch locks up.
I understand that .XLSX files are really just "zip" files, so if a file is saved from Excel 2016, there's probably information in there that Excel 2007 just ignores, but crashes Monarch.
