Santa Cruz Fire

As I sit in my home office looking out the window at the smoke filling our valley from the Lockheed fire (7,000 acres & growing) I can't help but think of the old Chuck Norris thread:

"If Chuck Norris came to Santa Cruz county, he could stare down the fire..."

Even if the Governator can't.

On the upside, beside the heat, wind and flames, the firefighters should be having a grand old time, as this is some of the prime marijuana growing land in the country. Who else but a bunch of stoners would have their school mascot be the bannana slug (University of California - Santa Cruz)?

We're going to go take cookies to the firefighters now...

So, not only the flames are high?

It hasn't had a lot of air play in Sydney so I can only assume that there hasn't been any loss of life... how many people are affected by the fires at the moment?

I think so far about 2,800 people have been forced to evacuate. No loss of life and I think only 2 outbuildings have burned so far.

Ditto... fires are scary because they are so unpredictable. Hopefully they can be controlled without too much loss of life or property.
