I am trying to use SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR in a PowerPivot table to return the values for the same date in the previous year. It only returns numbers for the current period. The Dates table I am using has contiguous dates, but the data does not. is this the problem? What am I doing wrong?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.

No, this is not the problem. Your Dates Table must have contiguous dates.
Is the Dates Table "Marked As Date Table" in your Power Pivot model?
Please post the exact formula you are using so that you can get help.
