Salesforce Objects Fields maximum via PQ?

Another part of my organization keeps adding fields to Salesforce objects that I pull using Power Query. One particular object now has over 100 fields. I built a fake report with that one object and it takes over 7 minutes to finish pulling data - with only 25k rows. This seems EXTREMELY slow to me. I only use maybe 15 fields for my reports and analyses, but they keep insisting on adding more (by year's end, we'll have around 125).

Is there a substantive argument as to why this should not be? Or should I just stop whining and deal with a completed report that takes literally 17 minutes to refresh?
