I can usually figure most things out but the easy stuff always gets me.

I need to have each row of data that I enter be automatically numbered (sequentially). I have turned this on before but can't remember and can't figure out how to do it. Hope this description allows you to help me.

Who is Mr Spreadsheet?
Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
The only non-programmatic solution I can think of is to enter the formula =ROW() in a cell. Then, copy the cell as far down its column as desired.
