Looking for a formula that will round down to the nearest 1,000 when a value ends in 500. When a value is greater than 500 it will will round up to the nearest 1,000. I'm trying to replicate the logic in outside system so numbers tie out. Thank you in advance for your help.

57,500 = 57,000

57,501 = 58,000

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Excel Formula:
=IF(MOD(A1,1000)<=500,FLOOR(A1,1000),CEILING(A1,1000))

Evaluates the remainder first if it is less than or equal to 500, the uses floor or ceiling to the nearest 1,000.

There is no need to repeat the link(s) provided above but if you have posted the question at other places, please provide links to those as well.

If you do cross-post in the future and also provide links, then there shouldn’t be a problem.
