Revision control for Excel files

I am looking for a revision control system(RCS) for Excel files on the same lines as a RCS system for code. For example we normally use Clearcase, Git etc. to source control software source code.
Such a revision control must be able to help people collaborate on same excel file:
1)Maintain versions of excel files
2) Find diff with previous versions.
3) Merge one version of excel file to another.
Please suggest any such suitable RCS system. It could be free/paid, open/closed source - anything is acceptable.
