Afternoon,

I am struggling with finding a formula that enables me to ascertain the number of employees present on any given date.

The employees sign in and out multiple times a day so I need the formula that ignores the multiple signing in and out process and just returns the sum of employees present on a given day.

I need to b able to filter the table also with the formula updating accordingly.

The end objective is to create a chart detailing the trend of attendance on a day by day basis.

Extract of the table of data provided below:

The table is over 8000 rows long with the dates ranging from the turn of the year to now.

Your help would be much appreciated; the above is well beyond my excel capabilities and have spent the entire morning endeavoring to resolve with the help of goggle without success, hence the first time post.

Regards.

Excel Joke
Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
FYI

You cant attach files on this forum. There are tools on this forum for adding small spreadsheet images

https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/about-board/508133-attachments.html

Unfortunately working from a networked work computer which is preventing me from installing add ons and/or tools which is stopping me uploading the screenshot of the spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet effectively consists of four rows: 1) Date, 2) Time, 3) Employee and 4) In / Out

There are approx.. 8000 rows.

There is data in all rows and cells.

If the forum rules permit, I could email the spreadsheet which could be uploaded by a fellow forum member?

Alternatively, could a formula be proposed using the limited information provided which I could use and confirm back if successful?

Regards.

@MODS: Before I get told off I've asked the OP to use the tools to post an image but he is unable to do so as above.
@BabyBean: You may be able to upload the spreadsheet to an online storage site and post the link here.
Moderators prefer people to post an image though as you've stated you're prevented from doing this.
