Hello –

Thank you inadvance for any help anyone can provide. I have spent hours on this problem and I am sure it is simple...I just can't wrap my head around it...I am dangerous enough to have made a few cool things happen w/ Powerpivot and MBI, but not an expert lol. I will try to describe the situation I am running into below

I am using syndicated data and there are a few things that aggregate behind the scenes and not capable of being replicated within Powerpivot. When the data is exported from the data provider the aggregated data is included in the same field as the lowest level. I am new to the site and don't fully understand how to use the attaching methods so hopefully the explanation will suffice and a crude sample data table will suffice

CATEGORY –SUBCATEGORY GROUP – SUBCATEGORY – BRAND OWNER HIGH – BRAND HIGH – PRODUCT

Within that hierarchy I also have time ranges such as Last 4 weeks, Last 13 Weeks, etc. as well as different regions.

The data shown is filtered by the total area (region) and the last 52 weeks (time range)for a company (Barlean’s) that spans across the CHIA and FLAX subcategory with two items in each.

The problem I am running into is that when I contract the product hierarchy I created from the item level to the brand level I cannot get it to show the appropriate aggregated level…in this case it should be 7.769 %ACV for the rollup under CHIA and 13.589 for the rollup under FLAX.

The only way I have successfully figured out how to get the right number to display instead of aggregating by summing/averaging/etc…is to create as many different calculated columns as I have levels of aggregates naming them something like Brand High – ACV, Subcategory – ACV, Subcategory Group – ACV, etc…then use a measure to reference those fields based on what is filtered in my pivot table…I have a number of additional fields to do this to and I am trying to keep file size to a minimum. Is there a way via a measure and limited incremental fields to show the appropriate data when the pivot table is filtered? I think I need a primary key which may look like the following…but not sure… [All Markets] & [All Products] & [All Periods]

I would really like to get this into a measure w/ the minimal amount of additional columns. Any help/direction is much appreciated!

Thank you,
Brandon
