Retrieving and comparing data from AutoCAD drawings with excel spreadsheets

Hi guys Arvind here, I require a code to compare the text in an Autocad drawing with the values in an excel spreadsheet. The returned value of the macro should be the coordinates of the text in the Autocad drawing. I initially thought of selecting all entities within a rectangular region in the model space of a drawing and extracting whatever text that may come within the rectangular region. I am new to VBA programming in AutoCAD so I am not sure if this approach is possible..Would really appreciate your inputs on this.
