If a user fills out one cell, I want to restrict them from filling out another cell within a certain range. And if they try to do so, I want them to be prompted with a message box explaining the restriction.

eg.
<TABLE style="WIDTH: 155pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=207><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 62pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 3035" width=83><COL style="WIDTH: 54pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 2633" width=72><COL style="WIDTH: 39pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 1901" width=52><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 12.75pt" height=17><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #e0dfe3; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; WIDTH: 62pt; HEIGHT: 12.75pt; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 2pt double; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl66 height=17 width=83>Pass </TD><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: #e0dfe3; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; WIDTH: 54pt; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 2pt double; BORDER-RIGHT: #e0dfe3" class=xl64 width=72>Fail</TD><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; WIDTH: 39pt; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 2pt double; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl65 width=52>N/A</TD></TR><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt" height=20><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; WIDTH: 62pt; HEIGHT: 15pt; BORDER-TOP: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl67 height=20 width=83>x</TD><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl68> </TD><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: windowtext 0.5pt solid; BORDER-LEFT: windowtext; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; BORDER-TOP: windowtext; BORDER-RIGHT: windowtext 0.5pt solid" class=xl68> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

In the above example, b/c the user picked "Pass" I dont want them to be able to pick "Fail" or "N/A". The range of the three cells above is E5 to G5.

Thanks, Besh

Hi Besh,

You can use Data Validation.

Data - Validation - Custom + Untick "Ingore Blank":

In E5, enter: =IF(OR(F5<>"",G5<>""),0,1)
In F5, enter: =IF(OR(E5<>"",G5<>""),0,1)
In G5, enter: =IF(OR(E5<>"",F5<>""),0,1)
