Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can offer advice.

I would like to know if there are any alternatives to drop down menus for a shared workbook. Something where only a predetermined list of options can be entered into each column.

The reason is that I wanted to make a database of clients and originally intended to have a number of fields with drop down menus to describe details relating to them. The workbook needs to be shared so that multiple people can enter details in different fields. I only realised at the end that data validation is greyd out.

If was thinking that the worst case scenario could be that I enter a formula which would display an error of one of the cells in a row did not equal one of the predetermined choices. Is this the best solution or can anyone help me improve on it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
Welcome to the forum.

Add the data validation before sharing the workbook and you shouldn't have a problem.
