Restoring my Access Database

I had problems with an access database on my home drive this morning. All of a sudden I was told the file did not exist. I tried to do a restore of the file folder to a previous version (yesterday) and the only database it finds is the one that was last updated on 12/26/2016 (no forms, queries, only one table). I looked at other restore points and it is the same thing. Where could my file have gone from this morning or previous days? I have worked on this database daily for over 3 weeks and was getting ready to launch it. This is a major setback.

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Welcome to the Board!

If you browse to the folder where the database was stored, can you see it or any other Access databases in that folder?

Did you, perchance, have your database set to do a "Compact and Repair" on closing?
Many times, when something bizarre happens while compacting, you will see a copy of it named something like "Database1" in the same folder.

Yes I did. I have a copy of one named Database1. However, when I try to open Database1 I am either told the shortcut does not exist or the file cannot be found. The database1 file is pointing to the home directory I was working in.

If you browse to the folder where you were saving this database in Windows Explorer, what database files do you see?

I see the database I am having problems with (with a last updated date of 12/26/16) and the record locking information for the database, with a time of 7:25am (the time I opened the database this morning). It was open on my computer and then part way through the morning, I set up the option to open a form when access was opened. At that time I also set up a compact/repair to occur. Access did not like that and things went downhill rapidly from there. I never saw the database1 mdb which I know occurs when you do a compact/repair. It just hangs out there but isn't really there. Not sure why ALL the earlier versions of this database now have the update date of 12/26/16??

When you say:

what exactly are you trying to restore from?

Were you doing regular backups of your database?

If this 12/26/2016 version is the latest one that you have, and you already overwrote any remnants of your working version after the error occurred, then I am afraid that you may be stuck with what you have now.

System wise, the databases in the file folder are backed up every 2-4 hours. I do a restore point on the file folder but regardless of the date or time I pick, the only database it sees is now the 12/26/2016 version and I am not sure why this happens.

Hmm...
If that is the case, there could be an issue with how the backups are configured. It would seem that it is not recognizing updates to the database, and therefore not updating it when the backups are running.
