Hi All,

Is there a way to reset the display settings without seeing the screen.

Problem is that when new drivers were installed for a graphics card is that as windows boots up, the display just goes black. We can hear windows start up etc just cannot see anything. Does anyone know a way to reset these settings. We have tried safe mode but that didn't work either.

Hi Steve

Assuming you keep your data and OS on separate harddrives/partitions (or have a backup of your data), you could simply reinstall Windows (altho you could argue there is nothing simple about reinstalling Windows!) as this should replace the broken drivers with at least workable default VESA ones.

I expect you have posted this problem at other boards, but one I would recommend is the MicroMart forums found at:

They've helped me out in the past.

Can you boot into safe mode? May be wrong but I have a feeling that it uses default drivers for that.

Hello,

Can you try and boot up in safe mode (F8 upon startup) and take the VGA option. This should by-pass your new drivers and enable you to try and work on a fix.
