hey people,
its been a while!

The Problem

i am trying to set up a report based on the members in my tblMember_PM table. i want the report to show the names by A-Z by Last name. This, i can do, however, i want each alaphabet letter of the last name to be divided like a directory.

For Example

A
Angle, John
15 Grove rd
Springfield
SI4 5RT

Aniston, Jason
103A Flat 5 Park Gove
Leeds
LS8 5TG

B
Best, George
22 Excel St
etc
etc

From A through to Z. All Suggestions welcome

thanx people! (y)

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
What you want to do is to base this report off of a query. Write a query that will capture all of the fields that you're looking to use in your report and add an extra field. Define this field as:
Code:
Your_New_Field:Left([Your_Last_Name_Field],1)
This field will return the first letter of each record's last name. You can then use this field as a Grouping Level in your report.

You can also place that Expression in the Grouping of the report and skip the query (use =).

=Left([txtlastname],1)
