Replicating a value across multiple columns using a formula

Hello All,

I use Excel for Mac 2011. I have what appears to be a very simple requirement - but proving to be very challenging. I would like to have a formula which copies a value from a cell - where the total number of cells is referenced in another cell. Let me explain in an example attached to this thread

So in this example, a value of 2.23 was placed in the month of Feb, and based on the value "periods to copy" being "3", the value starting in Feb was replicated across a "total" of 3 months (Feb, Mar & Apr). Another example, if a value started in May, with a "period to copy" of 5, would replicate the value across, May, Jun, Jul, Aug & Sep.

Please refer to graphic or spreadsheet attached.

Your help and guidance would be appreciated.
