I would like to know if it is possible to complete a "Find and Replace" but replace with a formula as opposed to a value?

Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"
Yes, that is possible. Find would be the formula (or part thereof) and just replace with new formula

What I want to find is a value, a part number specifically, and I would like to replace it with the following formula:

=HYPERLINK(A1,B1)

Yes that would work also. Find would be the part number you're looking for and replace with =HYPERLINK(A1, B1)

My goal is to have any instance of a specific value to become hyperlinked with the corresponding URL. What would be the most efficient manner to accomplish this? Finding and replacing each value would be quite time consuming, but with the ability to find and replace a value with a formula it would allow my goal to be accomplished.

Specifically the formula that would hyperlink the value searched for with a url containing the value, for example:

Searched for value, represented by X
URL which would read like http://shop.domain.com/part/X

This would require adding an additional column which I would like to avoid. Is there a formula I could run replacing any instance with the linked counterpart?

Here is the error I receive when trying to use the following formula:

=HYPERLINK(PARTNUMBER,URL)

I am using Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (11.8341.8341) SP3, what am I missing?

Thank you for your help thus far, I know we can get this to work one way or another.

Here is an example of my attempt at completing a find and replace using the actual values desired as opposed to referencing specific cells:

Would this also not cause a logic loop finding the part number again contained within the URL?

You're probably going to need to revert to VBA for a solution to this. Is that OK?

I believe I am getting closer to the solution required with Function Arguments:

Is there a way to reference a cell in a function and then copy and paste down a column? Much closer to my goal of having all part number values be hyperlinked to their URL's.

Yes, VBA is fine as long as you are able to point me in the right direction Dave!

I sincerely appreciate your help with this matter Dave!

Your help has gotten me this far and I feel we are right on the brink of a solution.
