Hello all. Just a general question, I am almost sure this is possible but can't remember. Is there a way for excel to automatically reassign links when a linked file (the file with the original data) is moved from one folder to another? I have several files that have a huge amount of links that I need to put in a public folder at work I always have to reassign the links. Is there a way around this?

THANKS!!!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Thanks for your quick reply. What I am trying to figure out a way for the links to AUTOMATICALLY (without having to reassign the links) reassign themselves, I am almost 100% sure I have done this before but I can not remember how.

How could they possibley do that? How could a formula know where you moved the file to?

I think the ONLY way that could happen is If

BOTH files are open (file with the links, and the file linked to).
And in the file linked to you click File - Save As, and change to a new directory.

Then the formulas would auto update to the new location..
