Hi

I'm using Excel 2010 and have lots of cells containing for example: valid until 03/12/2017 (score 100%)

Is there a way to remove all text except for the date to leave in this example: 03/12/2017

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Is there any reliable pattern to the data? For example, is there always some text in brackets after the date, and a space before the date?

Hi Rory

The cells contain either a varying date pattern as per example I gave or: 'missed deadline 28/04/2017', 'valid, renewal to complete by 15/09/2017', 'valid until 12/11/2017', with varying dates.

Some cells contain: not valid yet, to be completed. I am happy for these to be cleared of data if easier.

Thanks

Stuart

If it's that consistent, you can use the Find / Replace dialog.
Step 1, replace " (*" without the quotes with nothing
Step 2, replace " *" again without the quotes, with nothing.

Thankyou Rory. Common sense can sometimes elude me.

I've never had any, so I wouldn't know. :)
