There are several worksheets in the book, all with tables and I do not know which one this is for. The sorting is basic, column a, column b, column c.
I have not made changes to the sort criteria and never had the issue before. how can I at lease identify what sheet the error is in?
I suspected as much. Does your code clear the existing sortfields before it adds more? It's a common mistake to forget to do that and it results in this error.

Solved the issue for me. I suspect I could manually do it before closing, but I have several VBA routines which filter data when you open the tab so I thought this was a better solution.
I suspect that the root of the issue is as RoryA said, but this bandaid resolved the issue until I can debug further.
