Remove workbook connections

I built a workbook in Excel 2007 compatability mode for 2003 with a data connection through the connection wizard for Access.

I run it with some VBA to create a new refreshed workbook and save it to my network folder. I am simply trying to remove the data connection from the new workbook through the Workbook Connections window by just selecting "Remove". It disappears until I save it and reopen it and it's back again. I also have never been able to removed any named ranges through the wizard either. The option in the Name Manager window isn't available.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Thanks,

Toni

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
thart21, I know you posted this ages ago, but I ran into this and found the solution. Maybe it will help others too.

like you, I had a "connection" to a text file. I could remove the connection (using Data->Connections), but on each opening of the file, the connection was back like a bad dream.

REASON: I had imported a text file and used Excel's help (Data->FromText) to make this structured data (put it into columns that could have a data type). This must have created a defined name (Formulas->Name Manager) that referenced the text file (likely so it could update the spreadsheet if I were to change the text file).

SOLUTION: Go to Formulas->Name Manager and remove that defined name that is related to the connection. Then go to Data->Connections and remove it one last time and save the file.
