Is it possible to make a windows shortcut (i.e. desktop shortcut) that has a relative path? instead of "C:\dir\dir\file.txt" it would be something like "..\dir\file.txt" or "^\^\file.txt".

what i am ultimately trying to do is create a directory structure, with shortcuts to cross refrenced data. i will have to burn this onto a cd at some point and i do not want to have to manually change all of the links.

any help is appreciated.

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
Not sure if it's what you mean or not, but recently I had to set up macros that could run on any computer on the network. The problem was that some of the computers had hte drives mapped differently. My N: was someone else's H:

I was able to substitute the drive letter for the actual name of the drive...

\\drive_name\folder\file

and that solved it.
