How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Here is a macro to refresh all.

Sub RefreshAll()
ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll
End Sub

In the past, I used this code to automatically run every time I select (activate) a sheet that had with a Pivot Table. It replaces the steps of having to select the Refresh icon from the Data or Pivot Table Ribbons.

Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll
End Sub
