Hi all,

I'm building a report to monitor rejects, thus i need a conditional arrow to indicate trends, when the number of rejects increase to show a red arrow pointing up and when decrease to show a green arrow pointing down.

Any ideas?!!

Thanks

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Hello and welcome to The Board.
You did not say which version of Excel is being used but I guess that it is not 2007 otherwise you would be using Conditional Formatting Icons.
You did not describe how you are determining the trend but here is an example of how you can have such an arrow according to the values in two cells.

Excel Workbook
ABC
1510
Sheet1

Format Cell C1 as font "Wingdings" - you now have your arrows. Change the value in Cell A1 to 15 to see the arrow change.
Now apply two Conditional Formatting rules to Cell C1:
=C1=CHAR(234) as the formula to format the font as Bold and Green
=C1=CHAR(233) as the formula to format the font as Bold and Red
If you want to have an arrow for where the values are equal then the code to use is 232.
I hope that this idea helps.

Thank you.
Great idea, i thought that i should write a macro but it's very simple but very clever idea.

Just to clarify (for some strange reason part of the formula keeps disappearing),
the first part of the formula should be:
"If B1 is less than A1 then CHAR(234)"
