This error comes up now when the workbook is opened. If you Ok it, it repeats, if you close the dialog it alsp repeats and eventually reports "Out Of Memory"
After that you can see the Modules, Forms etc.
What happened was I added a text box and 2 option buttons to a Form When I next opened the Form nothing worked and every click just beeped at me.
The code windows caption said Running, but F8 did nothing. I exported the Form, Opened new a Excel, added a Form, imported the saved one and copy/pasted all the controls.
I can't be sure it's 100% ok but it seems to respond correctly so far.
But now my main workbook won't work, what's the best thing I can do to do to try and rescue things ? (I do have a backup but its about a week old)
Thanks for any advice!

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
I found these 3 links.

You could change your security settings to disable all macros and see if it opens.

Thank you for the replies. Jeffrey I looked through the links but couldn't see anything that directly related (that I could understand).
But I think now the changes to the Form were not the cause and just coincidental. I reverted to a backup and everything seemed okay, So I copied it to
a 2nd computer running Win 10 /Excel 2019 (I was using XP and Office 2016). It opened with the msg about Active X and on clicking OK
the System error... was back. And this using the earlier workbook that had never exhibited any issues.
Skyybot, If I disable macros and Active X components it opened correctly.

Good. You can extract what you need. Or, if you are trying to repair it, then you can go into VBA and remove Code Files that you think may be the culprit in error causation.

Also, if you are replying directly to more than one person in a response, you might want to @ them. Hope you can repair your file, @AlexanderBB :)

I'm currently doing that skyybot. If all the Forms are removed the problem seems to go away. But I'm wary... and starting to suspect it only happens with Forms containing Active-X commands.
Still trying to confirm...

Are there any On Error statements in any of those modules or subs containing Active-X commands?

Yes. On error resume next after Found.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeComments
And possibly others (within it's procedure).
I may have found something...when I tried to re-import one the Forms an error occurred about input past end of data... I wonder?
I've now restored all Forms and removed the ActiveX Warning as shown here
Early days but so far all is well...
Are on Error statements ok with Active x ?
It must be but Is active-X stable?
