Hi All,

I'm curious to know recommendations in terms of PC spec for handling large volumes (78k rows...) in Excel?

Cheers

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Not sure what machine you have

Jacks call is Win x64 (Se7en) and at least 4GB memory 8 is better of cause and processes quad core if poss say i5 or if money ok i6

as for Hard Drive 750GB min as you can always go external USB drive now quite cheap

NOTE USB 3 compatible machine is a must if buying new even in on 1 or 2 x USB 3 sockets

Hope that helps a bit

Get plenty of RAM. I have a Core i7 / 8GB at home; lets me run pretty well anything. For price / performance, i5 is the sweet spot.

78K rows is not a big deal in Excel, unless there are heaps of formulas. I regularly work with data dumps around 500K at work, and that's not really a high-spec machine. Newish Core Duo, around 4GB RAM.

If you can stretch the budget, get an SSD for system / apps, and a 1-2 TB hard drive for data. The SSD will make the PC fly. Unless you want to do some gaming, a graphics card is optional; the on-board graphics are fine for business applications.
