I've been teaching myself Access 2002 and I'm fairly proficient in the basics of manipulating object properties and methods, but my weakness is in understanding how to properly design Access database tables and relate them. I struggle with understanding how many tables should be created and which fields should go into one table or another. Most of the books I've read so far touch on these matters, but don't go into detail. Once a database architecture is designed, I can work with it fairly easily, but coming up with how the database should have been designed in the first place is still somewhat of a mystery.
For those that have had the same problem, can you recommend any good books that provide a lot of advice/guidance in this area?
I've been analyzing other Access databases designed by advanced developers to help me understand how and why they created them that way, and I've seen some clever models, but I don't think I could have come up with something like that on my own because those solutions don't seem as intuitive as I would like them to be.
