Recognizable date format

How do I change 05.11.2018 into a recognizable date format?

Assume your data in A19, then =DATE(RIGHT(A19,4),LEFT(A19,2),MID(A19,4,2))

and format as Date

If you want to change them within the cells they are in, select the entire column containing those dates and bring up the Text To Columns dialog box (Data tab, Data Tools panel). Select "Delimited" and then click the Next button twice... select the Date option button and then select the correct date order (MDY or DMY) from the drop down box next to it... click the Finish button.
