Re: PowerPivot & PivotTable Update/Refresh Problem

Hello all and thank you for your help in advance.

I am using Excel 2010 on Windows 7. The Scenario of my issue is as follows.. I have two tables of data on one worksheet in Excel. I am using PowerPivot to create a relationship between these two tables and then create two pivot tables "One for each table" on another worksheet. I then create a Slicer that will allow both tables to be manipulated by the same criteria. I then create two Line charts (one for each pivot table ) that can be manipulated by the same slicer. It works a treat until I go to update the power pivot table and refresh the pivot table. The Power Pivot table updates just fine with new columns, however when I got refresh the pivot table all my troubles begin ... the pivot table goes blank and even after I go to into the Pivot Table Field List tab I cannot set the fields back the way they were without "The Field you are moving cannot be placed in that Pivot Table area.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I am stuck.. Google Searching and forum browsing has not presented a solution or else I am using the wrong terminology in my searches.

kind regards
JohnD

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.

Hrm. No that doesn't really sound familiar. It actually sounds like... something is corrupted (which, alas... does happen periodically). Is it a ton of work to start over?

You can also send me a dropbox/onebox/googledrive link if you want me to see if its weird on my machine too?

You were exactly right. Started over in a new work book and the problem disappeared :) thank you
