Hi....I am new to using Power BI Desktop. I have used the Get Data to open or load data from Power BI semantics and selected the file that I want. In the Data pane, the tables are listed but I don't have any data displaying in the report canvas. How to I get the data to load so I can transform the data. Thanks

If I understand you correctly, data doesn't display in the report canvas until you add a visual to it and then add fields to the visual.

From what I understand, you should be able to transform the data before proceeding to build visual...I could be wrong as I am new to using power BI

Yes, you can transform the data but that does not happen on the report canvas, it happens in the Power Query window.
