Random Number with Query

Hello,

I have searched the board and the web but have not found an answer to this...Is there a way to create a random number field in a query without having to have a random number field in the underlying table?

My end result is to use vb to pull a random selection of 50 records (this number could periodically change) that match certain criteria (that will periodically change) then append them to another existing table.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
