Hello,
I am curious about this phenomenon. Recently, I have noticed that Excel 2016, when I add/subtract 2 numbers that only have 2 digits after their decimal points, the number that results has several other digits after the decimals; or, it will be XXX. 00000000058620000000000. I have increased the number of shown decimals, and all other numbers look like this: XX.XX000000000000000000; there isn't some random hidden number, except in the cell with the formula.
I do understand that if I use the ROUND formula it will fix this. But I'm really, really curious as to why this even happens? See below for an example:
Cell F149: 28559.420000000000000000000
Cell F150: 29265.250000000000000000000
Cell F151: -705.829999999998000000000
Formula:
Cell F149: 28559.42
Cell F150: 29265.25
Cell F151: =F149-F150
Thank you!
