I know there's a keyboard shortcut that allows you to quickly go back to the formula you're doing when you have to select an entire column from a table and you don't want to scroll the vertical bar all the way up.
I use Excel 2007 but I presume the following should work for you ?
In Excel 2007, you can use the Ctrl + Backspace shortcut to quickly return to the active cell (where you were entering the formula) after selecting an entire column or navigating away. Here's how you can use it in your scenario:
While entering a formula, if you select an entire column (e.g., clicking on the column header or pressing Ctrl + Space), the formula bar remains active.
To return to the formula entry point in the formula bar without scrolling, press Ctrl + Backspace.
This shortcut keeps the cell you're editing in focus, even after selecting or navigating elsewhere in the spreadsheet.
