Hello

I have a 40k line spreadsheet of data.

I need help with a formula to put in AF3 to AF40,000 so for the first line it will look at columns AC3,AD3,AE3,AF3 and if the term "Out of Scope" is present in one or more of the cells, it returns "Out of Scope" and if not "In Scope".

Thanks
Mark

Excel Facts

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
Does;

Code:
=IF(COUNTIF(AC3:AF3,"Out of Scope")>0,"Out of Scope","In Scope")

Work for you?

Works perfectly - thank you very much.

Actually mate I just found some errors when spot checking the data.

Example

Cell AC23 says In Scope
Cell AC24 says In Scope
Cell AC25 says In Scope
Cell AC26 says Out of Scope

Cell AC27 returns In Scope when it should be Out of Scope because AC26 is Out of Scope

There's quite a few more of these on closer inspection.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

The first thing that springs to mind is you asked for a Formula that dealt with data in Columns and not Rows which is the problem you seem to be experiencing?

Other than that, no :(

Can you post a proper sample of your data?

Can I post a screen print or insert and image on this board? Can't see how to do it.

If the cell doesnt exactly equal "out of scope" it wont work. This may:

=IF(COUNTIF(AC23:AC26,"*Out of Scope*"),"Out of Scope","In Scope")
