I have some skus, and I need a formula that will cut off part of it. Here are some examples:

KIDZ-1960-1-SPCP
GUIDE-G6713
EC4R(1a)-ELR-15651-BK

Those are examples of different kinds. I need JUST the letters before the first hyphen, but I also need it to cut off if there's a parenthesis. So for the data above, I only need:

KIDZ
GUIDE
EC4R

Can someone help super fast? Thank you so much! I could build it, but I'd need more time than I have!

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Maybe:

EC4R(1a)-ELR-15651-BKEC4R

One way:
Code:
=LEFT(A1,MIN(IFERROR(FIND("-",A1),999),IFERROR(FIND("(",A1),999))-1)

EDIT: Too slow! Looks like Eric is a little faster, and his formula a little shorter.

Maybe...

=REPLACE(A1,FIND("-",SUBSTITUTE(A1&"-","(","-")),LEN(A1),"")
