Hi, I have a question on opening excel file - not sure if this is the right place - if not, I'm sorry.

People generally ask how to open excel files in different windows. I have a problem where when I double click a file on desktop, it opens in a new excel window. So if I have 10 excel files open, it's in independent excel windows. How do I have it open only under one window. I'm guess somehow the file association got switched, not too sure.
(already tried "right-click, Open with, Browse, Program files\Microsoft Office\Office14\Excel.exe) - Is there some other place I need to associate the file with?

Thanks

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
If you use the File/Open Menu on an already open excel workbook, the file should open within the same excel application...

You did not say which version of Excel you are using but for 2007/2010, you should look at the DDE setting.
Under File | Options | Advanced scroll down to General and look for "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Entry (DDE)".
You will probably find it ticked - if so try un-ticking it but remember that it may have been set as that for a reason.
