question about linking files

im workong on some files and theyre linked to each other, but somehow they get properly updated even though the folder date has changed

how's this possible?

eg files stored in dec 14

files "rolled" over to dec 15 folder....files are updated and the links are based on the dec 15 folder and not dec 14

i didnt know links could be dynamic automatically?

Excel doesn't necessarily store the whole absolute path. If it can it will store a path that is relative to the location of the workbook that is pulling in the data. If you roll over the folder and both the Destination and Source files are in the same folder then it will still find the links.
