I need to see if I can get Excel to recognize a letter in a cell to mean a specific formula when it sees it in that particular cell. Here's what I am talking about:

I want it to see the letter Q in the cell to know that it is suppose to divide the number by 3, when I put the letter A in the cell it is suppose to divide the number by 12.

Can it do that?

I appreciate the help on this. Thank you

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Welcome to the board.

Your question is not quite clear. Where are the numbers you want to divide and where are the letters that tell the formula which divisor to use?

They are in form like this below. The top yellow line would have the A or Q and it is to divide the bottom line number by 3 if it's Q or 12 if it's A. That will give me a final number that will go below it.[TABLE="width: 92"]
<colgroup><col width="123" style="width: 92pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 4498;"> <tbody>[TR]
