I have a bunch of records with different dates. I need to find out how many records have dates in January, February, March, ect.

In other words I need to find out how many of these records happen per month.

Thank for the help

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Try a crosstab query.

Go to queries, and select New|Crosstab Query Wizard

The wizard should do a decent job guiding you the rest of the way, one option is to group records by month (horizontally) like fields, that's probably what you want.

The last reply was helpful. I'm not quite there yet. This is what I have...
a feild with data type "Date". So naturally I have lots of records with dates in this feild. For example I have employee names in one feild, and there birthdays in another. I want to find out how many employees have birthdays in January, Feb. ect.

So if there are 10 employees with birthdays in Jan, 15 if february and 6 in March the results should look something like this.

Jan Feb March
Count 10 15 6

Hope this helps
