I created a query with some criteria defined on the QBE/design view.

Then returned to datasheet view ."home" tab and added some filters (the ones that you can toggle on and off) saved ,closed and re-opened the query

so far so good. the filters are still there and can be toggled on and off

however when I changed the design view/QBE criteria and returned to datasheet view the filters are gone. not just toggled off... totally gone

Is this just a quirk of how Acess works (using access 2013) or is there something I can do so I don't lose my filters

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
filters are always cleared when the source changes. Is this happening on a form?

if this is a form, you can set the form Filter property and FilterOn = true when the form Opens or Loads

You can also change the form RecordSource to include the criteria

Thanks for that strive4peace . I had been hoping there was a way to avoid losing the filters but now that I know this is just the way access works using plan(s) B

AS A QUERY
have now removed the filters from that first query (so the first query just has the design view/QBE criteria) then created a second query (query wizard) that uses that first query as its data source
and applied the filters to the 2nd query

AS A FORM
Created form using first query as its source and then put the filters on the form

All good either way
