I have a field that is a check box for items completed. The feild is a checkbox. If I want to create a query to pull only the items that have not been completed, what can I put in the criteria?

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Is the data type of the field Yes/No?

If it is just put No as the criteria.

No it's just a check box. I thought of doing it that way but wanted to see if I could just keep a check box instead of having to select yes or no for comepleted.

I just checked & it works the same way if I put no in if it is a yes/no or just a check box. thanks. Do you know how I can create a query or table that will bring back just a total # (none of the filed information) of how many have been completed or not completed on a certain day? for example :

1/1/05 completed
1/1/05 completed

1/1/05 not completed

I just want the info to look like

1/1/05 = 2
1/1/05 = 1 nc

You need a totals query.

Create a new query (in design view), add the required table(s) and hit the sigma button to the left of the red exclamation mark.

Now add the date field and the checkbox field and select Group By from the dropdown.

Then add the checkbox field again and select count from the dropdown.

That should give you what you want.

Ok I'll try that. I have one more question, it is regarding duplicates.

here are the total fields in my table

Run Date EE SS# EE SS#/Dep SS# EE First EE Last
04/12/2005 111-11-1111 111-11-1111 robert Garcia
04/12/2005 111-11-1111 222-22-2222 alex Garcia

The first record is a subscriber (robert garcia) the second is the dependent (alex garcia) is there a way in a table to eliminate the dep since he will be tied to the ss# 111-11-1111? I tried the duplicates but it doesn't remove it because the dep ss# & first name are not the same as the eess# & name. My query works but when I up date it I have to jump back and forth for each subscriber. if it is completed then i just want to check it as completed which is what I was asking earlier.
