Hi,

I've just started using Access 2002 and don't have any knowledge of writting script. I have created a query producing a person's name and the sales that they have closed for the day. However, I would like to ensure that each transaction that is counted once, and not based on the sales that take place. For example: If Anna sells 2 computers it logs each computer sale seperatly. However, for this query, I would like to know how many transactions Anna dealt with. So I would like this query to show only 1 transaction for the 2 sales. Is there a way I can do this without writting any script?

Thank you.

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
I'm not a power Access user, but it sound as if you want the query to "sum" instead of "group by"

Up on the tool bar of your query (while it is design view) there is a SIGMA symbol. Click it and run the query. I think it might do what you want, if I understood the question.

It depends how your data is set up.

me2 has the right idea but without further information it's hard to tell what grouping to use.

One way could be to add the employee name field twice.

Set one instance to Group By and the other to Count.
