I have a 723 KB MicroSoft Word file containing
only a Table of four columns andabout
23000 rows on 455 pages.
I wanted to sort on column four but MSWORD said
that the table was too big for MSWORD.
I have been told that Excel can manipulate it.
Is that correct? if so, how
can I easily get it into excel?
I have windows 10 and word andexcel 2016.

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
I tried copy, but it takes forever to copy, and errors come in.
Can I read the word file into Excel?

Thanks. A click on the little box at the upper left corner selects the whole big table.
ctrl-c then copies the whole table, and ctrl-v pastes it into Excel.
All this is slightly slow with the big file, but actually fast compared to some other ways.
Have to prepare a place for it first, I believe.
I will work and learn and see if it satisfies me.
Good for now. Thanks much.
Still don't know what down arrow is though I may not need to know.

Can you copy with ctrl+shift+down, click at the top and press these 3 together?
That's for Excel, not Word. In any event, Word's table tools already have a Select Table option, so using that then copying the selection is hardly rocket science.
errors come in.

Since you don't say what these errors are, it's unrealistic to expect help solving them.
Reading the data with a macro may only replicate the same 'errors'.
