Pulling Excel data into Word

I am trying to populate a dropdown box in word from an excel file that is located remotely on our intranet. I thought it would be a simple thing to do but I am having all kinds of problems with it (I'm using vbscripting). Anybody have an example they would be willing to share.

Thanks in advance.

*edit* Basically I'm wanting to run the script on Document_Open().
 

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
