I have two tables and I am trying to find a formula that will allow me to pull the text over from a table that has duplicates to a table that does not. But I keep getting errors like "the value for column 'Name of Column' in table 'Name of Table' cannot be determined in the current context".

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Have you tried the RELATED function? It should be pretty straightforward.
Can you provide samples of your tables?

I just reread your original question.
I am trying to find a formula that will allow me to pull the text over from a table that has duplicates to a table that does not.
If there are multiple values in the column in the table on that side of the relationship then what value do you want to show?

Well it depends on which column I trying to pull over, but I don't really have a preference at the moment of which value. I just want something rather than #ERROR.

Try:
Code:
=CALCULATE(TOPN(1,VALUES(Table1[Col2]),Table1[Col2],1))
where I assume that Table1 has the duplicates and that Table1[Col2] is the column that you want to retrieve from Table1.
