Publication for Construction of Excel Formulae

Above is a formula that was provided by a most generous member in response to a question that I posed on the "Excel Questions" forum. Sadly I have very little idea of how the formula was actually composed, although I understand the general idea. Is there a publication that I can purchase which breaks down the method of construction of both complex and more simple formulae?

I don't know of anything that would really cover all bases, as there really is no limit as to how complex formulas can become, and all books have some sort of limitations.
