protecting worksheet issue

Is there a way you can protect a worksheet and still be able to open and close groupings?

thanks for any help

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
When you protect the worksheet, select the following tick boxes

Select locked cells
Select unlocked cells
Format columns
Format Rows

This should allow you to use the groupings.
