protecting a macro button

I have created a a button that is associated with running a macro. Is there a way to prevent this button from running the associated macro when the sheet is protected?

Put this at the top of that macro:

If Sheets("Sheet1").ProtectContents or Sheets("Sheet1").ProtectDrawingObjects or Sheets("Sheet1").ProtectScenarios Then Exit Sub

IF i put in the if statement it asks for a corresponding then statement
