Protected cells

I received a workbook. On one of the sheets there are some cells which cannot be accessed. I just cannot use mouse or arrow keys on the keyboard to get into these cells. When I click on one of these cells, nothing happens. What I find intriguing is that the sheet or the workbook are not protected and particular cells are not locked. If I enter the cell address in the Namebox, that cell will be accessible. If I open this workbook with security level high then all cells are accessible. This makes me believe that the cell protection is through VBA code but since the VBA code is password protected, I cannot access it. Also I am not authorized to share the file with anyone. Does anyone has any idea how this could be done. This is my first post here, so, please bear with me!:banghead:

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
welcome to the board..

It is most likely done with VBA, since the problem does not occur with macros disabled.
It is likely using the ScrollArea property of the sheet to limit which cells can be scrolled to.

Although, I did not know you could still access the cell by typing it in the name box and pressing enter....

Thank you, jonmo1, for quick reply. I have tried this on a new sheet and it behaves in the same way as the offending workbook. Thank you again!
