Hi there,

first post on MrExcel!! Sorry if my explanation is a little long-winded.

So I have a s/sheet with about 160 columns. I have about 57 columns spread out throughout these 160 columns that I want to lock, so they can't be edited when I share this with colleagues.

I have done the usual, Select All - Format - Protection - Locked - Select relevant columns to be unlocked - then apply password. I have also tried the other way around, by unlocking all, then selected the relevant cells to be locked.

The problem I am having is that only the first 20-ish columns I want uneditable are getting locked, the remaining 30-ish are editable. This is despite them being selected the exact same way and at the same time as describe in the process above.

I can't figure out why this is happening. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?

Hi Mojojojo,

In Excel 2007 it worked for me this way
1. Select the entire sheet with that small arrow at the upper-left-corner (besides the A and above 1)

2. Right click and Format Cells...>Protection>Uncheck the checkbox Locked

3. Select 57 columns (in my case i've selectet A till BE) clicking the mouse in A and dragging it to the right till BE

4.Keeping these columns selected
Right-click and Format Cells...>Protection>Check the checkbox Locked

5.Go to Review>Protect Worksheet (check if only the two first options in the list below are checked)
Insert your Password twice
OK

done!

Thanks Marcelo,

these are the steps I followed. The problem is not all the colums that are selected in the process are getting locked.

Anyone else come across this issue?

Thanks,
